Kent school prepares for hot summer with air conditioning installation

The school classroom can be an uncomfortable environment during the hot summer months, but fortunately for the students at Fleetdown Primary School in Dartford, Kent, Synecore has installed three brand new Toshiba air conditioning units to keep them cool this summer.

Overheated classrooms during the summer was proving a major problem for the students and staff at Fleetdown Primary School in Kent. The heat was leaving students feeling lethargic and therefore reducing concentration levels at a crucial time in their learning. With the pressures on schools to perform and excel, the ambient temperature in a classroom is vitally important to extend concentration levels.

For Fleet Down School the solution was to install Toshiba air conditioning units in three of the classrooms – two cassette type units were mounted into the suspended ceiling and one wall mounted unit was fitted. Synecore selected the Toshiba air conditioning units to compliment the existing Toshiba equipment and to provide a sufficient warranty period.

Gary Piper, Synecore’s National Sales Manager oversaw the installation, he said, “Like Fleetdown School, many primary and secondary schools throughout the UK were built during the 1960’s and 70’s, at a time when air conditioning was not an option. Today, we expect appropriate heating and cooling to create the ideal temperature in any workplace, and we’re seeing an increasing number of schools require air conditioning systems for their students.

“Once we’ve installed an air conditioning systems, it’s vital it is regularly maintained to remain Fgas compliant, and to keep the system running efficiently. To support large properties, such as schools and commercial buildings we tailor service and maintenance programmes to ensure legal obligations are met and the overall lifespan of the equipment is optimised.”

Josh Protheroe, Site Manager at Fleetdown Primary School said,

“We’re a large school and the combination an old building with big classes meant it was incredibly hot during the summer. The newly installed air conditioning systems will prove hugely beneficial to our students and teachers.

“Not only are we delighted with the end result, we were also impressed by the care Synecore provided prior to, and during the installation process. Synecore were conscientious and considerate to not let the installation impact on the classes, by carrying out the work out during the Easter break. We would certainly use them again for further air conditioning requirements.”
