100 Building Service Professionals Play Golf and Raise £12,000 for Kent Children’s Charity

M&E Contractor, Synecore recently hosted a Charity Golf Day and raised £12,000 for children’s bereavement charity, Holding On Letting Go (HOLG). Over 100 Building Service Professionals from across the UK were welcomed to the Tudor Park Hotel and Country Club in Maidstone on Friday 29th September to play golf and raise significant funds for the Kent charity.

Synecore, delivers Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing services to major hospitality, retail and leisure brands nationwide. With such a vast network of suppliers and clients, the business wanted to utilise its fortunate position to fund raise for a local children’s charity. After much research the team discovered Holding On Letting Go, a relatively small charity based in Rochester, that would hugely benefit from the money Synecore raised.

“Back in March we committed to raising £25,000 for Holding On Letting Go,” explains Paul Thomas, Synecore’s Managing Director. “We were taken aback by the good work they do for so many children across Kent and as a result set up a schedule of fundraising events to enable us to meet our ambitious goal. In addition to our Charity Golf Day, our team have taken part in a triathlon and hosted a quiz night, bringing our total to date to almost £14,000.”

Synecore’s inaugural Charity Golf Day received the support of many of the company’s loyal clients and suppliers, who sponsored the event. The main sponsor was Edmundson’s Electrical, an electrical wholesaler, based in Croydon.

Other sponsors included Genco Building Contractors, Filturn Interior Specialists, Technical Lighting Solutions Ltd (TLS), Inox, SHW Design, Lion Insurance Consultants, AFR Refrigeration, Hushon, FFX, JBH Refurbishments, Vision Commercial Kitchens, Essex Ventilation Service (EVS) and NCC.

Throughout the day, guests enjoyed a round of golf at Tudor Park’s picturesque 18 hole course. Competitions for Best Individual, Best Team and Nearest to Pin were up for grabs, there was also a complimentary drinks cart and Jägermeister bar, serving long drinks of popular spirit.

Come the evening, a drinks reception was laid on in the hotel bar with live music. Over dinner, natural funny man, Adgar Brown entertained with his quit-witted comedy and played host to our charity auction, which featured sought after sporting memorabilia by Anthony Joshua, Floyd Mayweather and Pele.

The money raised by Synecore’s Charity Golf Day will help HOLG to continue its support for children and their families, who have been bereaved by illness, or a sudden death such as suicide, road traffic accident or even murder.

For 19 years HOLG has provided bereavement support weekends, which play a major role in helping children, who have lost someone special, such as a parent, grandparent or sibling. These children find it difficult to deal with their feelings of anger, grief, hurt and abandonment. As the name suggests, Holding On Letting Go help bereaved children to hold on to precious memories and let go of the sadness.

Caroline Gaskin, Chief Fundraiser for Holding On Letting Go adds, “The children we support often feel very isolated in their grief and don’t know how to express the many emotions they are feeling appropriately. We depend enormously on the fundraising support of individuals, groups and businesses, such as Synecore, as they make it financially possible for us to offer these children the support they desperately need.

“We were therefore delighted that Synecore chose Holding On Letting Go as their charity of the year. Their commitment to raising such a substantial amount of money is outstanding and we are truly grateful. We would also like to thank Tudor Park Hotel and Country Club, who have also supported HOLG in 2017.”

Synecore’s commitment to raising £25,000 for Holding On Letting Go will continue to the beginning of 2018. The Kent M&E contractor will host further fundraising activities. If you would like to contribute to Synecore’s fundraising efforts, please visit the team fundraising page at BT My Donate.
