You will have seen us use a number of different terms to describe what we do i.e. mechanical and electrical contracting e.g. M&E Contractor, HVAC Engineers, M&E Engineering Company and Mechanical and Electrical Contractors. So what do all these terms mean and what do we actually do?

What is An Electrical Contractor?

An electrical contractor is someone who provides electrical expertise including electrical design, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, maintenance and monitoring for commercial clients, shop fitters and interior fit out contractors to carry out electrotechnical and other technical engineering services and projects.

What Does An Electrical Contractor Do?

So what does an electrical contractor do? As previously mentioned electrical contractors provide a wide range of electrical services which are required in fit-outs and the design, install and maintenance of any type of electrical install or equipment e.g. in the electrical component of the installation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning or refrigeration equipment or in the install of lighting or security systems.

Some Examples of Synecore Electrical Contractor Projects

Patara Fine Thai Cuisine, Berner Street, London

Interior experts, Fileturn commissioned Synecore to carry out an electrical fit out for Patara Fine Thai Cuisine restaurant in the heart of London’s West End. This work involved lighting, Thai decorative motifs, panelling and wooden carvings which were positioned along the walls with recessed LED strip lights. On the ceiling, a combination of large metal pendent lighting and small multiple pendent spotlights were fitted to provide a relaxed atmosphere. We added also added LED strips to the bar’s floor to ceiling shelving and fitted ceiling spot lights and metal lamps to the bar’s serving platform.

The electrical installation for Patara’s new Berner Street restaurant took 10 week to complete, with a value of £55,000.

Joe’s Kitchen and Coffee House, London Gatwick South Terminal

Synecore were contracted through The Restaurant Group (TRG) to complete the electrical refurbishment of Joe’s Kitchen and Coffee House at London Gatwick South Terminal. Synecore electrical engineers isolated and identified the circuits and removed the power points for decoration and cladding. New power sockets were fitted to units and the walls once the cladding had been installed. The existing light fittings were replaced with new pendant lighting, spot lights and signage, while new feeds were required for track lighting. Once complete, Synecore carried out the necessary commissioning and testing of all the electrical equipment.

The electrical refurbishment was completed in just 10 days and was delivered on budget at £23k.

The Prince of Wales Pub and Dining, Heathrow Airport Terminal 4

TRG commissioned Synecore as electrical contractors to provide the front of house electrical installation for the Prince of Wales Pub over a period of nine weeks. Within the electrical design and installation Synecore was responsible for new lighting, emergency lighting, aptop power points, remedial works, new data cabling and new TV installation.

The preparation involved in airside electrical and mechanical installations is often as lengthy as the time spent on site. The permissions and approvals for airside construction are laborious and very complex. Every engineer, all the equipment, materials and designs must be inspected prior to beginning work onsite. The schedules are often tight and therefore every minor detail must be intricately planned.

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and Virgin Holidays V-Room, London Gatwick Airport

Synecore worked alongside Alan Nuttall Partnership to complete the electrical contract for the all-new Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and Virgin Holidays V-Room at London Gatwick Airport.

Synecore was responsible for the airside electrical contract, including BMS wiring and Smoke Damper Control installations, plus coordination of the electrical and mechanical installation including distribution, lighting, lighting control system, emergency lighting, small power, mechanical equipment power, mechanical control, automatic window blind supplies and smoke damper power and control.

Orangetheory Fitness, London

Ghost Projects contracted Synecore to provide the full plumbing, electrical and air conditioning installation for the Orangetheory Fitness gym.

Synecore installed seven cassettes air conditioning units within the gym suspended ceiling, which were fed by Mitsubishi Electric power inverter split systems and the gym ventilation was supplied by a Mitsubishi Electric’s LGH Lossney system, which also recovers heat and distributes it to other areas of the building. In the changing rooms, the same four-way cassette air conditioning units and the ventilation vents were installed into the ceiling space to provide a comfortable and fresh space for showering and changing after a hard workout. In the reception area, an air curtain was fitted to ensure the indoor air conditioning was not compromised by the exterior elements as the visitors enter and leave the premises.

Synecore was also tasked with striping out the original electrical installation and installing new data and electrical cabling to support the installation of the gym’s TVs, reception TVs and computer systems, lighting throughout, supply and fit statement orange lighting panels within the main gym and spot lights recessed in the gym and changing room ceilings and within the metal cable ceiling trays in other areas, the changing room mirrors with integrated lighting and hand dryers in washrooms and changing rooms.

These are a few of the many projects where Synecore have been invited to use their electrical contracting expertise to fit out many major London based restaurants, coffee houses, pubs and gyms.
