CAU Cambridge

Project Outline:

Synecore were offered to tender this new brand by Crane Interiors, whom we have worked with on a couple of projects; namely Busaba Thai and Wagamama’s. Also on the team were the same designers whom again we worked with on the previous projects.

The CAU Restaurant is a take on an Argentinian steak house, offering tasty prime cut beef and meals; this site was part of a larger development which was being built by others. It comprises of a two level restaurant with an open kitchen on the ground with seating and a large open staircase in the centre leading to the upper seating area.

We originally priced this project with mains voltage dimming systems but due to the client wanting more control of individual lights a DALI system was designed using Lutron relays and switches.

The project was based on a 12 week program with us, procuring all the fittings from: Storm Lighting, Eyelite and Lightinc. Within the scope of works it included wiring of all lighting, small power, data and containment for fire alarm, music and security. During the project many challenges were overcome by weekly progress meetings and close coordination between all parties. There were some delays by the principle contractor whom was carrying out the main building fit out, which caused the fit out to be extended by two weeks however we managed to claw back the time for staff taking possession.

The client was delighted with the finished product which included grass and sky painted ceiling tiles, LED backlit ‘Woven’ ceilings and large cow bells for lights. The dimming system was programmed by Lutron and set up with minimal fuss.
